Lady Dons Varsity Soccer 2011-12

Del Mar starts second half of the season on high note!

by on Jan.27, 2012, under 2011-12

3 weeks ago the Lady Dons fell to the Willow Glen Rams by a score of 0-4 in the regular season opener. After facing several tough teams in close games over the past two weeks the Lady Dons opened up their second half of the season in style with a 2-1 win over the Rams. The game was physical and fast and the Rams kept the Dons goalie Allison Hadidian on her toes throughout the game. But Hadidian and the Don’s as a whole held tough. Senior Olivia Hadidian (#4) was responsible for both of the Lady Dons goals.

Its a great way to start the second half of the season!

Dons hit a rough patch, but play tough.

by on Jan.26, 2012, under 2011-12

The last couple of weeks the Lady Dons have had a bit of a rough time. In the past 6 games Del Mar has come way with a 0-5-1 record bringing their overall record for the season to 4-6-3. But their record is not a very good indicator of how they have been playing. The Lady Dons have faced some very good teams in Willow Glen, Leland, Santa Teresa, Live Oak and Leigh, and in each of those games the Lady Dons have played very well, and were always a threat to their opponent. The games against Leland and Santa Teresa were decided by a single goal and were very exciting to watch. This past Tuesday against Leigh marked the midway point of the regular season, and the Lady Dons will now face each team again starting the Willow Glen on Friday.

With the second half of the season comes a second chance. The Lady Dons have an opportunity to show how they have pulled their young team together over the past several weeks and get back to their winning ways. Go Dons!

Dons hit a speed bump

by on Jan.08, 2012, under Uncategorized

The Lady Dons took a bit of a hit this week in their first two regular season games. Wednesday against Willow Glen the Dons fell short in a tough 0-4 loss after the long Holiday break. Friday Del Mar faced off against Leland and held their own against an establish division “A” team, only getting a little loose early in the second half and allowing the Chargers to slip by and score. But The Dons didn’t let down after the score, holding Leland to only the one goal and giving themselves several scoring opportunities which unfortunately they were not able to convert into goals.

Before the holiday break the Lady Dons extended their undefeated streak with two ties , Cupertino 1-1, and Milpitas 0-0. Both games were fast paced and a step up in competition from the previous pre-season games. The Lady Dons rose to the challenge.

CCS Division 2 : Round 1: Del Mar 9 – NMC 0

by on Feb.24, 2011, under Uncategorized

The Lady Dons made the most of their game in the first round of the CCS playoffs Wednesday against North Monterey County. The Dons met NMC at home and sent them back to Monterey with a 9-0 defete. The Dons were on fire and dominated the field. The first half saw the Dons jump out to a 3-0 lead with goals by the usual suspects Sulma Plancarte, 2 goals and Rachel Schauer with one.

In the second half the Don’s started to spread it around a bit, it started with a couple nice looking goals, one on a corner kick header by Sammy Steeves, and then the next by Zuly Huizachi, as she leapt over a sliding defender and took it to the goal on her own.

Just minutes later Sulma Plancarte was “mugged” in the box and Olivia Hadidian took full advantage with a great penalty kick that found net high and left of the goalie.

By the end of the game almost every memeber of the team had a hand (or foot) in scoring a goal.

GOALS:
Christina De la pena (1)
Olivia Hadidian (1)
Rachel Schauer (1)
Sammy Steeves (1)
Zuleyni Huizachi (2)
Sulma Plancarte (2)

ASSISTS:

Samantha Steeves (1)
Emma Norman (1)

Lady Dons start CCS play this week.

by on Feb.20, 2011, under Uncategorized

null
After capping off their regular season against Mt. Pleasant Thursday night with a 4-1 victory, the Lady Dons (18-0-2) have their first CCS game Wednesday at home.

Player of the Year (as posted on MaxPreps website)
#24 Sulma Plancarte

“Sulma was not the leading scorer on our team, but she definitely lead the team in work ethic and hustle. A great team player, Sulma playing forward made it possible for our team to score over 80 goals this year. Teams that tried to mark her found out how difficult it is to keep Sulma away from the goal. Sulma is Player of the Year.”
